Re: Pioneer SX-1050

That is very good news Greg. I'm curious if it was stored in a climate controlled setting. That does sound like a nice Pioneer unit and I hope it stays working for a long time.

Re: Update synopsis

I have 2 computers, both are Windows 10 computers with all of the updates. I'm using Firefox (latest version) 115.0, and also tried Chrome (latest version 114.0.5735.199) I don't have a lot of other applications on either of them. Hope this helps. Both computers are about 10-12 years old and have I7...

Re: Update synopsis

As a "end user" the "Donations" button will not show up when I am logged in. I followed Hi-Fi-Mogul's advice and logged out. I was able to make a donation this afternoon. but evidently it might not have been associated with me as I was logged out. In any case I was happy to make ...

Hi-Fi-Mogul, you nailed it! I logged out and was presented with the "Donation" button. It was easy after that.
Thanks everybody!

Re: Update synopsis

Hi everyone, I was logged in and was going to hit the "Donation" button, but I can't find it.
I don't think it is my browser that is preventing me from seeing the button.
When I go to the "Board index", all I see is the time just below it.

Thanks in advance,
Steve

Re: Where is everybody?

Hi everyone, I'm one of those that log in just about everyday, but don't post much. The house is full and I haven't taken in anything new (have to get rid of some of this first). I do enjoy reading about all of the others projects and other hobbies. I went to the Northland Antique Radio Club Radio D...

Re: Nice Fisher console stereo

I looked at the tube specs and 3 watts is for a single ended output. For push pull it jumps to a little over 9 watts at 5% distortion. The tubes are quite expensive, but look at the bright side, you only need one per channel! They were used extensively in german branded consoles (I had a Grundig). I...

Re: 1962 Zenith MM2670

That's the model I own. There is a thread in the Zenith area I did on it. It's a wonderful console and sounds very nice. I believe it is from 1964-65 time frame as it was the last tube/transistor hybrid model. The next year they were fully solid state. The amplifier was transistor (germanium) and th...

Re: Please let us know about your Zenith consoles!

Zenith used "Professional" to designate their in house belt driven changer in the TOTL consoles, and used "Precision" to describe the consoles that used the VM 2G changer used in the rest of them. I don't think they used the Garrard or BSR changers until somewhere in the early 19...

Re: cool looking Zenith...

Hi Chazglenn3, I thought the changer on your TOTL Zenith was a Garrard and did a little looking. It was a 3500 series Garrard. I like the VM changers as they are relatively easy to clean and lubricate compared to the Garrard, but I always thought the Garrard changers were easier on records than VM. ...

Re: Another spambot onslaught

When I logged in I believe yesterday I did see a couple of new threads in "Introductions" that really didn't make much sense, something about gummies. It didn't occur to me that they were attacks! How oblivious can one get? I see today that all has been cleaned up and looking fine. I will ...

Re: How about this?

At one point I could have joined in the "Cars" threads, but have since sold my DeLorean. I was happy to sell because I put about 2000 miles on the car in the past twenty years and lack of use was really starting to show up problems. However, I always enjoy reading about others on here talk...

Re: Craig's list finds!

I have a Zenith like that black one, but it's in photofinish mahogany. It is a nice stereo and used a EV26 cartridge that was dead on the one I picked up. I think the model I have was a SFD2560 which was a 1959 or 1960 built unit. Zenith also used the Euphonics cartridges as well. The radionic cartr...

Re: Felipe's HH Scott Console and 2225 Receiver

Hi Chris, this console doesn't use nuvistors, their tuners used "FETS" as it says on the dial. The slow turn on is in the preamp that is used by both the phono and FM circuits. I took the receiver out and am playing with it and so far I'm satisfied with the performance of the FM stereo. I ...

Re: Felipe's HH Scott Console and 2225 Receiver

Felipe, to remove the grills in front of the speakers just grab behind the wood grill at the top and pull. There are a couple of friction latches on the sides and pegs in the bottom of the grill. The grill should tilt out from the top. I have not pulled any of the speakers out of the console to repl...

Re: Hello from a Scott 2225 console system owner

Welcome Felipe! I'm the one with the "other" Scott 2225 console. I picked mine up because I didn't want it going into firewood. It had lots of problems, and was worked on several times in it's history. My gut feeling is there was a nearby lightning strike that was repaired. The console wor...

Re: 4000 posts !!

Firedome, that picture of the Frigidaire "Jet" action washer reminds me of what a great washer they were. They actually cleaned the clothes well. I never had one, but remember an in-law had one. It started leaking and we replaced the rubber bellows that connected to the agitator, but it st...

Welcome FrankB! I hope your time here is rewarding and enjoyable. I think it's a very nice bunch of people.

I'm getting up there in age too, I even noticed that I don't have the patience I had earlier in life. It's great here, so friendly.

Re: paint on a console

Instead of using a sharp metal blade, what about trying a plastic putty knife or something similar. Hopefully it wouldn't be so hard that it will scratch the finish (as much). All of the problems I've had with the finishes in my consoles were beyond the finish and stains into the wood. Good luck! St...
