Free RCA SHC8
This is in Michigan, so all you guys in that area, heads up. Doesn't look too bad. And free is the right price.

Re: Free RCA SHC8
I just saw the post this morning. I didn't check the date, but figured it must be current to be there.
Yeah, oops again. I should have read better, I got all excited. The post was from 2109. Somebody else made a follow-up inquiry dated Feb. 26. Okay, I had a senior moment. Oops......
Sorry!

Makes sense, doubt it'd be free nowadays.

Re: Free RCA SHC8
I think that one is Maple, which is closer in color to my Blonde one. Mine has the RCA amp that bridges to stereo. So, the PP 6V6's for mono become single ended 6V6's for stereo. I think I have the correct?

There is a member on this forum with the name Basilio, and it looks like his real name is Mitch. Not to question, but how do you know it's still available? The last date I see is 2021?

Referring to the last link I posted, you can see the last post was February 27, 2022. The owner of this RCA hi-fi is a member of this forum. I have contacted him and hope he will join us at some future date.

Re: Free RCA SHC8
C'est Moi! Yes, it is available and electra225 has passed my email along to one interested party, but I'll try to keep you guys updated as to the situation. Note, the FM is wildly off and needs to be aligned (and a tube in the circuit replaced). No one took it before we moved from Ann Arbor in Sept 2019 so it followed us up here and to the basement. I had a second RP-205 changer that I offered with it (I think) but that has been re-assigned to a new project.

Re: Free RCA SHC8
Exactly!
I just restored an SHC-6 and like the SHC-8, it needs the companion speaker to be stereo, and a switch on the rear of the amp controls that. It was like any other RCA, loaded with wax paper caps and a few off tolerance resistors. Looking at the schematic, the switch allows OPT secondary windings to be connected in parallel to drive the two 12", also in parallel. I have a single cabinet SHC-4, where the SE 6V6 amp does NOT have the same speaker switch.

I believe Bill is ramrodding the project to get your RCA to a good home with a member of this forum. We are thrilled you joined us. It looks like it will make a good project and is well worth rescuing. Thank you for your generous offer.

I just restored an SHC-6 and like the SHC-8, it needs the long-gone companion speaker to be stereo. A switch on the rear of the amp switches one OPT to an RCA jack for that external speaker. It was like any other RCA, loaded with wax paper caps and a few off tolerance resistors. The sound was much better than I expected. Especially the clear (not tubby) bass, which my customer was impressed with even more.
