RCA speaker terminal fix

Post: # 5252Post Motorola minion »

Anyone who has worked on a few RCA's knows what the pictures below show, usually it means death to a solid-back 3" cone tweeter if a push on lug is hastily removed.

Notice the missing rivets in center of the terminal strip.

Make no mistakes, almost all tweeter voice coil wires can rarely be captured for repairs  This afflicts RCA horn speakers on later SS models as well.

My example pictures are of a 1962 model RCA color TV's speakers, an issue in all RCA's which I have seen MANY times in 45 years. These speaker terminal boards are almost always built this way and all will fail, due to metal fatigue of one stupid aluminum rivet.

So far, Dave, I have been careful or lucky. Thanks for the warning and tip.

Yep.... that RCA I stripped out did the same thing... pull each individual wire carefully off the speaker terminals or you will be gluing the whole cardboard mount back on ...

Oh my, are those from a 1962 RCA CTC-11 "Wakely" perchance?
