Repair Tech

Post: # 5152Post electra225 »

I came across a topic on ARF here awhile back that was old enough that there was a post by Repair Tech. This individual's name was Matt, and he was from Philly, as I recall. He repaired home electronics for a living. He seemed to know his stuff, but his personality got him into trouble. Last I heard from him, was on Phonoland, before it went defunct. That's probably been five years or better now. Do any of you guys know anything about him? Is he still around, still working on old electronics?

He worked on my RCA 6HF1. Thought he was the cat's @$$ and the bees knees... work was OK but not as great as I had expected from someone so confident...

He started insulting EVERYONE and got banned. You don't insult current or future customers.

Is he still working on old electronics? As I recall, he had some nice RCA items himself.

I recall reading threads that he responded to, seemed a bit full of himself and not particularly helpful... no loss really.
Seems to me he was on another site also... AK?

Name of the shop was Mayfair Electronics on Rhawn Street in Philly. Search looks like it's closed. As I recall, he didn't own the business or didn't own the building. There was another guy there that was working on newer stuff. This was a good 10 to 15 years ago and, I'd figure he was in his mid to late 50s then...

He was condescending and could be downright cruel and insulting, especially to one guy who specialized in RCA restorations.

I'd rather learn 10 things from 10 polite and patient hobbiests than everything from one KIA "pro"...

Your sentiments seem to have agreed with most who had dealings with him. He got banned from ARF, TheTube Radio Forum that I lnow of. I don't know if he got tossed off AK or not. He stayed on Phonoland until it shut down. They liked his acidic personality. He never did me wrong, but I wouldn't want him on this forum. Thanks for the update.
