Classic Avocado G.E. Player

[Hi-Fi-Mogul]

A recent client wanted a record player for his grand daughter,
who is starting a great interest in record albums.

I told him these little G.E. SS players sound really good
for their size.

He asked me to find one, and here it is.
In great 1960's shape; a little servicing, a new stylus,
a clean up, and it's ready !

I forgot that these little gals do sound good.

The speaker is a 2 inch x 6 inch, and the
cone appears brand new.
The amp is a minimalist 4 transistor
product.
Another model offered Tone and Volume,
while this one only has a Volume control.

The G.E. RD-610-2 changer is all metal, and
as heavy as a V-M 1200 series.
It plays nicely and quietly.

I love the fact that it is Avocado, and brings back memories of when I was growing up the then popular colors were Avocado and Harvest Gold.

Thank you for posting this because it has brought back some memories for me. When I was a teenager, I got a record player for Christmas one year and that may be one just like it. I remember it was a GE and had a green plastic case. I was thinking it was a lighter green than that but it's been a very long time ago so I can't trust my memory 100%. Mom had started work cleaning apartments so there was some more money to go around at that time.

Now I have a confession to make. When there wasn't anybody at home except for my brother and myself, we would unwrap a present and play with them. We would then retape them after we got through and before anybody got home. The GE record player was what I unwrapped and my brother unwrapped a transistor pocket radio that my older sister had bought for him. Everything went smooth until the day that my brother told my sister that he sure did like the radio that she got for him. We sure got into trouble for that.
