This song was written in 1912 by Irving Berlin. His wife of five months had died of typhoid. This song was first recorded in 1913 and that recording is still on YouTube. Perry Como and Jim Reeves had later hits on the song. A hauntingly beautiful love song, it is presented here by Anita Carter, still a teenager when she recorded it in 1951. My opinion is that she is the only Carter Sister who could actually sing. She several recordings with Hank Snow as well as single artist work. The sister-in-law of Johnny Cash.....
