Surgery For The Holidays
I'll be going in for rotator cuff surgery early tomorrow morning. It's supposed to be a 6 week recovery period. I've been trying to arrange things around the house to make it easier for a one armed man to get by. To add to the fun, a guy tried to drive through the side of my Explorer and I get to negotiate that situation while recovering. At least we had a nice thanksgiving with no outside influences allowed in. I just hope the pain will be bearable. I hope to do some reading and listening. Wish me luck.

Re: Surgery For The Holidays
Best wishes on the successful surgery.
I wrenched my R arm 6 weeks ago, did not have
rotator damage fortunately, and it's a slow process of recovery.
Good that you're preparing ahead of time to make
things workable during recovery.

Best wishes! my wife the PCP says rotator cuff surgery has a considerably longer recovery period than hip or knee replacement... take it easy!

All the best. Lousy time of the year to be out of commission but there never is a good time.

Best wishes for a full recovery! Be careful, and you have to do the physical therapy. I know people that have had the surgery with poor results (didn't do the therapy) and others that came through it with great results after following doctors recommendations. I'm hoping you will be one of the latter.

I hope everything works out for the best and all of the pain will be gone by Christmas. Take it easy and let us know how it goes.

Re: Surgery For The Holidays
Had the surgery Monday, all went well with it. The pharmacy wouldn't fill the pain med because they didn't file with my insurance. after wrangling with them monday, the pharmacy said they could fill it without insurance. My copays are $20. I asked them what the price would be. They had held up my pain meds because it was $18.35 without the insurance. i have a big 'ol cantilever rig on my arm and it is tough sledding being truly one armed. i'm now starting grueling home exercises and trying to sleep in this truss. Thanks for the kind words and thoughts.

Re: Surgery For The Holidays
I'm late to the party, but I'm very happy to hear the surgery went well. Keep up with the physical therapy and don't press the limit of weight you can handle. I'm hoping you can be almost pain free by the end of the year. Everyone is different but you sound like somebody that likes his hobby and will do whatever necessary to get back into it.
Welcome back

Re: Surgery For The Holidays
I had been given hydrocodone/tylenol after the surgery for pain after the surgery. It was a 30 day supply. i stopped taking it Thursday as I was no longer in very much pain. My sister is my exercise director. I drive 3 miles to her house twice daily as I can't get this arm rig off myself. She told me something she saw on fakebook, a person talking about their s--t knfe. They actually had a household knife hanging on their back porch to cut up their eliminations that wouldn't pass through the toilet. We about collapsed laughing about it.

Re: Surgery For The Holidays
As my wife says, it can be a painful surgery, but you're smart to get off that Vicodin asap and hopefully still be able to deal with the discomfort effectively. Humor is good therapy, and maybe time communicating on here will take your mind off things a bit too... hang in there!
