Didn't Need More, But...
A friend of my friend was helping his deceased friend's daughter with
clearing out the estate.
So, he found out I dabble in record players, and told me
about these 3 that were destined for curb or dump.
I offered $125 and now these 3 gals are in a new home, mine.
Had to work 2-3 hours to etch-a-sketch some room in my little garage.
The RCA is an SHP-12 stereo consolette, fortunately with an
original 13-T stereo powerpoint. So, it has standard 1/2 inch
mounts where I can put in a new Pfanstiehl.
Came with the metal legs, too.
I think the 2 Maggies are Magnasonics, from what you guys
have posted.
They look very similar, but the bottom power amp 142 is
mounted differently in each, so I presume different years'
productions. Also, different lid hinges.
With the lot got 45 adapters and cartridges of various
kinds, but kindred to the Magnasonics from what I can tell.
One is a V-M adapter.
The RCA also had its original 45 adapter. The platter mat
must have been damaged, because someone put in a
BSR mat. I'll have to check out if the mat surfaces are
true and flat.

Nice score, Mr. Mogul. I like the blonde Maggie, and the cabinet looks to be in great shape. Is the RCA Maple, can't really tell by the photo. I have always wanted that RCA model, not sure why, just thought they looked cool. Have fun with your three new toys and please keep us posted.

What a nice haul! The mahogany one is like my '56 Magnasonic, except that it has the optional tuner. The limed oak (?)one looks to be a year newer (just guessing).

Nice score, Mr. Mogul! There is ALWAYS room for just ONE more. If you get short on room, you can always stack....

Yes, but you need TWO people to stack.electra225 wrote: ↑Sat Nov 23, 2024 1:32 am Nice score, Mr. Mogul! There is ALWAYS room for just ONE more. If you get short on room, you can always stack....![]()
I actually called a nearby customer to return the
favor and help me balance the Maggies on my
dolly so I could move them.
Bill,
The RCA is not super blonde, but not light maple either.
I think the finishes on these may age and darken
sometimes.
The inside finish is lighter.
Chris,
Offhand, do you know what model changer is
in your Magnasonic ?
Thanks all !

As to the changer, it looks like the one in your photo--has a plug-in head. I just went back & looked at my Sams photocopy but it doesn't ID the changer. The console itself lives down near the Chevy. If I have a chance at Thanksgiving I'll see if I can stop by the storage unit.

Those are holiday flip opportunities. Change a few caps, clean the controls, service the record changers and list them on marketplace with some Xmas records for last minute shoppers.

What a nice collection! Looking at these has me thinking there is always room for one more. Well done Mr. Mogul.
