Alexis Cole Quartet

Last Friday night was the final program at the Hart Performing Arts Center, and it featured the Alexis Cole Quartet. For a little town, this performing arts center has some outstanding talent during the season. The performing arts center is located in the Hart Middle Schools theater so during the day the artists play for the students with questions and answers, kind of like a teaching experience. Because I am forgetful this program was the only one, I attended this season. Sad, I know as there are anywhere from 6-8 shows per season. Next year will be its 25th anniversary.

For those of you that like jazz, The Alexis Cole Quartet outstanding. Alexis plays piano and sings and I believe is from New York. The drummer is from the Ann Arbor area and the bass player is from Kalamazoo. The fourth person in the group is the one that really impressed me. His name is Brandon Goldberg, he is just 18 years old, and is an excellent jazz pianist. He started at 3, fell in love with jazz and as they say the rest is history be it a short history.
