During our monsoon storm about a week ago, the weatherguesser babe said we would not get any additional storms, so I left the flag up. I try to be careful to lower the flag during inclimate weather and if we are supposed to get wind. In the middle of the night, we got "an haboob" with dust and high winds. It tattered the flag and tossed the light down the street about a block and a half to the south. We ordered a new flag and a new light. When they came in, I put up the new flag and then the light on top of the flagpole. I just happened to look up and saw the light looked funny. I reckon it was too hot for the light. It fried the new light, tweaked the case. It still works, but the company we bought it from said the solar panels overheated and melted the plastic case. It still works, but it is done. They are sending us a new one gratis. The old light didn't mind the heat, but this one sure melted.

Maybe paint the case a silver or white color so it reflects instead of absorbing heat?

Your new light was designed for northern climates only.

The original one was white. The picture on the box shows a white one. Yet the one that melted was black.
