The Return
Last April my feral cat was having some serious health problems. He couldn't keep his food down and he was weak and would lean from side to side and couldn't stand still. The last time I saw him was just before a week long cold snap. As poorly as he looked, I couldn't imagine him lasting much longer. It was sad, happening just before his 17th birthday. He'd always bring me good luck when I'd feed him. Well, my luck went to pot too. It was a sadder place with him gone. Late last week, I was walking round the building here, and I saw a black thing on the lawn in the near darkness. It wasn't a trash bag, but a black cat. I called it, but it didn't even notice me. I took a crap cam picture of it. I brought some of the food zi hadn't got rid of to work and carried it with me for the next week. It was out there last night. I walked toward it and it started to draw back. I took the little can of food out of my pocket and waved it in front of it. His eyes brightened up and he started toward me. The poor little thing was wobbly getting up and was thin as a rail, but it was Mr. Cat. I poured out the food for him and he wouldn't come til I walked away. he ate it all up and held onto it, apparently. I can only guess someone else had been looking out for him too.

Re: The Return
I had wondered about Mr. Cat. Let's hope he live the remainder of his life in relative comfort. We have a cat who is 16 and getting to be a pest. He likes my chair. I defer to him, since this is his home as well.
