Webcor changer!
My latest project is trying to make a Webcor portable stereo work for the local antique shop. It's model EP-1357-1, changer model number E188-5. The amp had a really bad hum, which by the way is the first amp I have encountered with the proverbial "hum". That was the easy fix. It had a four part paper electrolytic hidden under the chassis, and four film/paper caps. All replaced, hum gone. It also needs a new needle which I need to order from Gary. The problem is the changer. I'm guessing it's Webcor built. Definitely not VM, and does not look like any BSR or Garrard I have ever seen. It actually seems to cycle ok, but when the tone arm returns to the post during cycling it does not clear the post. Thus, the record falls on top of the tone arm which screws everything up. For the life of me I do not see any way of adjusting the height. I have looked online for a service manual for the changer, but no luck. I did find a few photos of the unit, but that was no help for the changer. Does anyone have experience with Webcor changers? Or, maybe some service info on the E188-5. The unit is dated 1964 if that helps.
Thanks in advance,
Bill

Bill,
How about a photo of the changer ?
There is a Sams 705-11 from 1964 for the
"188 Series" changer.

Bill, you've probably already done this, but there are a couple videos on YouTube where they are going thru Webcor record players. They are not your specific model, but the videos might give a hint you can use. Good luck.
I haven't failed. I've just found 10,000 ways that won't work.....Thomas Alva Edison

Thanks Greg, I never think to check the "tube".
Hi-FI-Mogul. My digital camera died, and I do not have a smart phone so I'm kind of without a way to provide photos right now. I tired to locate a photo from the internet but no luck. Thank you for the Sam's reference, I will see if I can spot that on the internet and then I will be able to tell if it's the correct changer or not.

I'll send you the Sams, if you PM me with your email.
I'm pretty sure it's your changer.
Also, do you need the Sams for the circuit ?

Thank you! I think you already have my email, but I will send it anyway. I did find the circuit Sam's, but thank you for the offer.
