One that got away?

Post: # 9661Post Firedome »

On CL "curb alert" yesterday, but saw it this AM and may be too late. A Zenith perhaps? It looks like a CobraMatic in there and I think I see Zenith on the arm. Probably a PP or SE 6V6 jobbie? Ad even says it works but needs the proverbial needle. Sent eMail saying I'd pick it up to save it from the ad's threatened fate of going to the landfill (today is trash day)... but it was posted yesterday, and no reply as of yet. I have Zero room but would gladly save it to put into the hands of he who does ;-)

I just hate to see this type of stuff just thrown on the trash heap..., I too would save it too even though I am stuffed to the rafters with these ... last year I found a listing for a SS magnavox imperial loaded with R2R ... looked beautiful in the pictures ... they claimed if not picked up it was going to the dump... I sent a message telling them I would come and get it.. to which they said they already dumped it ... in less than 12 hours from posting... what's the point in posting if they don't give someone a chance to get it?

Mono or stereo? could go either way from appearances... around 1957/8?... awaiting a response!

Roger, the posting is already deleted but I would guess it was stereo. There were more knobs than necessary for stereo, and it looks wide enough to be a stereo unit.

Day late and a dollar short, as usual! Yes I do believe it may be a stereo unit, note that the 2 speaker grilles are each angled slightly to the L and R.

Do you know whether it went to a good home, or to the landfill?
Life can be tough. It can be even tougher if you're stupid.....

Only that the ad was deleted, but one can only hope for the former.

Gosh, I hope someone found it.

That was a very stylish Zenith.

The V-M Cobramatic dates around late 1957, as
it was in the early 1958 Sams Photofact.

I have too many of these as well, learning that any tube unit is worth saving, even if in a garish furniture style.

I also learned to pass on all but the most expensive SS consoles (post '64) unless a Zenith or something decent in Scandinavian walnut.

This Zenith is a good example of why its important to advertise if you MUST throw something out. That is, unless you live on a busy road, where all I need to do is put something out and it disappears before dark :P just did that yesterday with some toddler toys and a chair.
