Philco H1814 - 1960 3 channel

Locally, I paid $20 for one of these in this very unassuming cabinet, though I knew satellite (electrostatic) speakers were missing. Then the speakers showed up and I had to spend $120 more to get them from NYC

The TOTL was the H-1916, but this is so cool! GS-77 record player, RT400 tuner and a 3 channel amp p-p 6BQ5 for bass, SE 6BQ5 for R+L satellite speakers

I thought the 3 channel thing was a motorola thing only... or did others jump on board to copy?

Magnavox was one of the few manufacturers who didn't make a three-channel stereo at some point. I had a little Webcor three-channel and a Phonola three-channel at one time.

Motorola and RCA also had some nice 3 channel
consoles from about 1959 to 1961.

I've owned one of each, and they sounded good.

And I have a TOTL RCA three channel that is in the someday I will get to it pile. Light cherry cabinet, model VCR-45. It's like this only French Provincial.

Roger, it is a small Early American cabinet with satellite speakers to it won't take up much room. It's too bad it's not closer to you.

True Bill! The cabinet is almost identical the the Ethan Allen louvered 3 door cabinet in our LR. it will get my Scott 22d/350d combo one of these days, with outboard Klipsch speakers.

I see the ad has now expired. Hopefully it sold locally. I could have potentially gone through AK on my way back from FL, if it was still available in early December. The plastic knobs on the tuner indicate it was added after the console left the factory. That would bother me as the metal Philco knobs are so cool. If it hasn't sold, the owner will probably discover the sum of the parts are worth more than the whole.

My only issue with these Philcos is the use of now scarce(pricey) 7199 driver tubes. My Pilot console and Fisher integrated use the more plentiful and still made 12AX7's.

Mark, I'm still jealous of your H-1916 Philco. I remember the photos you shared of the guts, and they were mighty impressive. It has to sound great.

Thanks Bill. I feel very fortunate to have found it about 20 miles away. It's enjoyable and it keeps me from pursuing anything more complicated. Bonus is the wife really likes the styling! If you're looking for one, I hope it comes your way.
