I just saw a message of his passing and was going to post here. You beat me to it. Another childhood memory gone. RIP, Wally.

Fortunately the news of his passing has been premature, according to his family.

I thought it odd, I did not find anything of his passing but that doesn't mean much when I look for stuff on the computer. All i saw was he was in hospice. Have you read what's going on with him?

They said it was cancer. apparently terminal. It was mistakenly reported that he had passed earlier today and nearly every national news outlet went with it.

So sad to see him go from cancer, such an awful end to a life. My wife & I volunteer at Mercy House, a local hospice. Over the last few years the patients are coming in much closer to transition, many if not most from cancer. Our good friend and financial advisor Brian, my exact age 71, came there in May from spreading prostate to liver cancer (get that prostate checked yearly folks!) and he was there less than 2 weeks. Seeing once vital folks wasting away in that way is terrible. Looking back I've frequently regretted not having gone into cancer research, as I had the chance in my 20s but instead opted to teach. Cancer is a horrible scourge on humanity, we need to eliminate it, an incredibly difficult endeavor given the extreme variety of pathology and etiology.

If anything good could come from such a mistake, I hope he can know how many people care about him and it offers some comfort to him and his family.

Imagine having an older brother like that! As a 70s MoPar kid seeing this in reruns, I loved the fact Plymouth supplied their "sensible sedans" to the show. So sad that he was only 77.
