...and that dozen turned out to be 50, right on the nose. I saved the best performers, along with radios with busted cabinets the auctioneer figured would not sell well. I sold 228 radios at the auction. I saved way too many. So far, only one won't work at least semi-right. It's a Well-Gardner-built Airline radio, one of my previously best performers. I think the 12SA7 is wonky, but I haven't done any testing. It acts like the oscillator quits over part of the dial. I have a cute little Crosley radio with a badly broken cabinet that I am going to patch up and hotrod. Ditto an old Zenith that used to work really well for being a Zenith in the years I have the most trouble with. I'll fix it and hotrod the paint. I have been starting radios up one by one to see what they will do. I have taken pictures and will share those when I get them loaded.
