Last chance.....

Post: # 7763Post electra225 »

....before they go to the landfill. I have a Magnavox R204 chassis and an Admiral chassis, both solid state and both from orphaned console stereos. The Admiral works fine, the Magnavox I have no idea. Free to a good home, just handle shipping. The Magnavox is pretty heavy the Admiral not so much. If somebody doesn't claim them, they go. Sorry, I can't save everything.

Photo of the Maggie chassis? My boss has her parents' Maggie SS console and wanted me to make it work. The volume pot on one channel seems to have failed--no volume until it's cranked up loud (past the tap, I suspect). When I looked at it I was afraid to molest the Molex connectors, which looked like breakage ready to happen, plus her nasty tiny dogs were trying to bite me. I wonder if yours would fit. Or maybe salvage the volume pot?

Let me take a couple pictures tomorrow and I'll post them. I never thought of that..... ;)

The Magnavox chassis is a six-knobber and came out of a Stereo Theater. It only has one chassis, so I think it's the 50 watt version, not the big 100 watt one. No knobs.

Greg do you still have knobs that would work with my Mag R-231 chassis (pic) if so I can use them, mine has the wrong knobs from who knows where!

Yes, I sure do. I saw them the other day when I was moving and digging thru boxes. Don't ask me where, though. They are in the shop SOMEWHERE. I'll dig them out again and see that you get them. Need anything else from an R204?

I have a small collection of Sams manuals that I am not going to keep. About the only things I see in there anyone might have interest in is RCA color TV chassis CTC-25, CTC-38 and CTC-40. A Magnavox stereo chassis R-214 is in there along with other more obscure makes. I am going to toss these if there is not interest in the TV stuff. These are what I'd call late versions, the oldest I was 875, the newest 1436 or thereabouts. I'm sure none are complete. This is a mish mash of stuff I got at an auction in a box of junk.

Thanks Greg!

I don't think anything else would interchange with a R-231. I wish I could find the faceplate but it's kinda scarce because of that row of push-button selector holes.

Dave MM probably would be the one interested in RCA CTC SAMS but I think he has a fairly complete set in his inventory.

I have the silver knobs needed for that Magnavox, I just have to make sure I bring them along.

Electra, I may be interested in that Admiral but shipping cost could change that. I have a 1966 combo that uses it.

Shh that's a secret ;) , I make occasional exceptions sharing them but my copying capabilities are pretty poor.

Did we ever get a photo? I'm thinking that this one might replace my boss's chassis, or at least offer parts.

Chris, it's been absolutely nuts around here the last couple of weeks. I have way more to do than time to do it. I'll get you pics today if I can. Sorry for the delay.

See if that Admiral has TI transistors like my 1965 TV combo does. I will pay the shipping.

Pictures as promised. First the Magnavox R204 chassis. I understand this is the 50 watt model, a six-knobber. It was born in a Stereo Theater.

OOps...the second picture is the Admiral.

I'm not sure what a T1 transistor is. Maybe these pics can help.

Order of pics, top to bottom: Mag, Adm, Adm, Mag, Adm, Mag. For some reason, when I transferred the pics from the camera to the computer, they got all mixed up. Sorry for any inconvenience.

OK, set the Maggie aside for me, and when the craziness subsides and you are bored, box it up for me. Looks like a drop-in for the console down the alley. If it works, it drops in. If not, it becomes an organ transplant donor. My boss will be tickled. I'll send address and a check when the time comes.

Thank you, Chris, for saving that chassis. I really hated to see it tossed. I got almost the whole Stereo Theater that housed it when I get my Stereo Theater. I have speakers, horns, chassis, remote chassis, two remotes, lots of stuff. I have a set of knobs for Roger (when I find them again  ) a speaker for Bill and now this chassis for Chris. When things calm down a bit around here, I'll get those to their rightful new owners. Thank you all.

Dave, the pics I took of the output transistors on the Admiral chassis came out blurry on the computer. They look fine on the camera monitor. Do you need more info, or will those pics show you what you are asking about. Sorry, I'm not familiar with a T-1 transistor.

I assumed it was referring to a case type, like TO-3. As an amateur at this, I always have to nudge the memory with an online search. But I find no T-1 o I'm in the dark too.

Here are the knobs I got with the Astro-Sonic chassis R 204. You may notice some TV tuner knobs. These were in the deal, but you don't have to take those if you don't want them. The two small knobs and the two flat knobs are part of the set if you want them. I see I have enough knobs for the RARE seven-knobber if you run across one of those....... ;) ;)

The Stereo Theater the chassis and knobs came from had a roundy TV screen. Kinda too bad it was taken apart. My GUESS it was a 1963 model. The knobs I have may be a tad earlier than the ones you need. I have most of the Stereo Theater with the exception of the TV and the cabinet. I have no idea what happened to the TV.
