The one you are showing, Roger is a long one. Dave's comment on my curbside find mentioned push buttons, and that meant more deluxe and more powerful. Mine does not have push buttons and is shorter than the one in your photos. Yours having push buttons must mean it is a more deluxe model. The changers are the later more modern VM design on both units. $900.00???????

Wow! The entire wood top is grain-matched. Nice.

Both links were the same. But nevermind, the item was in CA. Has anybody looked at CA housing prices? Another species of insanity. Here in good ol' Michigan, you can afford to buy a house and you can be assured that it will not fall down or slide into the sea from an earthquake. And as Bill reported, you can sometimes find Philcos at curbside that would fetch 4 digits on the coast.

The wood on the top is fantastic, but the cabinet is far too long. Shango says that Philco was all style and no quality.

But what style! And at least the cabinet looks to be nice quality.

As Chris said CA seems to breed a certain kind of insanity & unreality. It seems it's the home of consoles priced in 4 digits.

Like in MI, here in Central NY you can buy a very decent house at a very reasonable price. 175-200K will buy a nice 1950s 3 BR ranch or small 2 story. However while prices are low the taxes on that house will be $4000 to 7000. But it must be borne in mind that it's a high tax-high service state: we have excellent schools (at least in the suburbs and rural areas) and very high levels of public services... as always you get what you pay for. And I can still, and regularly do, find free or cheap consoles on a regular basis.

Sorry, guys, I goofed. I edited my post and put the correct listing in place. It's worse than the other listing.

My part of MI is in the California belt of our state. It has become a trendy place to retire. Wealthy people buy homes, spend the summer going to wine tastings, and then leave them empty all winter when they flee to FL. The result is housing prices that have greatly increased. In my neighborhood, the tear-downs have started. McMansions are appearing where modest homes once stood. My tiny 2-BR 1908 house is valued at about 325% of what I paid for it 27 years ago. It lacks all the minimal features required for sustaining life these days--AC, quartz counters, 1.5 bathrooms per bedroom--so it would likely be a teardown by the time I kick the bucket. I mean, how can you live in a house with Formica?
