Mr. Tasar. I will leave what's here, here, and start a new thread under the Radio board. I for one want to know more about your Chrome Radio.

Okay just to complete the Newcomb story, here's the "suitcase" cover along with the dual mono stage speakers built for ROUGH duty. As with the speakers, the 6V6 power supply, as seen in photo, is the only chassis I've been inside with "snap-in" condensers of very good quality..to this day the ESR tests good for both filter and wax caps... amazing US quality as needed ...severe duty calls !

The speaker on my TR-16A is identical to those you posted, tasar. We never had two factory speakers. We had the one that was part of the main case, then mom's cousin built the second speaker box out of plywood and stuck an old used speaker in it. That thing sounded amazing. Mine only has one P-P set of 6V6's and only one rectifier, a 6X5. The one you pictured is a notch or two above mine. I think dad paid something like $75 for it new, which was huge money for a record player. He used one of those old RCA mics that could be used for a lethal weapon, on a chrome stand, to call his square dances.

Yeah same model basically.... the 4 6v6 as shown were a typical way of producing more power...as with some
Older radio quad output circuits, they'll all run on any two side by side, the extra pair are redundant in a way. My Midwest radios are a prime example.... for Marketing sake they would over-populate certain areas such as output in order to get the tube count up. I take advantage and use a single pair of short profile 6L6 to do the work of 4 6N6 or 6F6.... sounds bigger and better output as well !
I think I'll list this Newcomb combo for sale as it is one of two sets I have owned seemingly forever !

Perhaps you'd start a topic on the Newcombs and we could get a converstion going about them. I wouldn't mind to have an external speaker for mine if you decide to sell some.

Are both of your Newcomb's the same model? I believe it's a 25 something?

Yes as photoed below the TR25 AM
Just a guess but the difference in numbers was that of the power output ?

Re: Newcomb TR-16A platter wanted
I am still interested in finding a good platter for the TR 16 AM I have.
Mine has push pull 6V6 audio, and I think mine says 15 watts output.
