For years my recently passed-away Uncle, an EE at IBM for 35 years, kept a vertical chassis AM/FM tuner/amp that he'd removed from a Magnavox console somewhere along the line as a workhorse on his basement workbench, hooked up by alligator clips to a small pair of speakers on a shelf over his bench. He used it to listen to big-band and jazz music broadcast by the local FM station that played it around the clock while working on various projects. I was always amazed at how good this jury-rigged little setup sounded, but didn't know what model it was or what it was taken out of, however it seemed different in that it had orange and yellow dial numbers and a long row of a lot of buttons on the left side. Having recently found it in a box, going thru pix online I've ID'd the console that it was removed from it as a Magnavox 2P3763, or similar perhaps with different #s depending on furniture style. This must have been an upper model, given the 6 knobs and extra row of buttons not seen on lesser models. It's missing it's face-plate, original knobs and of course the entire rest of the console. Not sure where these knobs came from, they don't appear original (see next post).
Got info from Dave MotorolaMinion that it's a '71/72, basically the same chassis P222 as starting from 1968 but with minor cosmetic changes. Apparently a solidly engineered and built unit, made before Mag started penny-pinching and reducing quality with later '70s and onward models. Generally not a big fan of SS consoles but do like this chassis and it can serve in it's present form if necessary, but of course hope to find a cabinet/speakers/turntable to put it back to original someday!

original knobs, faceplate, and changer look like this pic from the i/net.
Not sure what the speaker line-up would have been.
