This is the place to discuss test equipment, how to use it, how to repair it.

It looks nice, Elton. I have one that someone gave me. I have never used it, probably because I have no idea how to use it. I may need to take a road trip and have you give me a few lessons. ;) :)

as soon as I learn it myself  there are so many features on it they are over my head ...math time constants , etc... I will never use it for anything but checking wave forms ... but the amount of room on the bench is great ... but I will probably just fill it up with other projects waiting ....

That's a nice little unit. The Chinese are really coming on strong in a lot of electronic products. Even the tube audiophiles have been laudatory of late about some of the Chinese high-end audio, someone from Stereophile, Robert Harley I think, went to some of the tube audio mfr's there, saw the factories and interviewed the engineers and came away very impressed.

That unit will serve many functions. It will grow on you. It looks like a good 'scope.

Reminds me back in the late 70's and early 80's when Japan was considered cheap , junk, crap... what have you... but today ?... people kill to get a unit from japan of that era ....China needs to step up the quality game more.... but I don't see wooden cabinets or metal chassis ever coming back...strictly plastic stuff from now on...of course tastes change over the years ...who knows what tomorrow will bring ...

Chinese stuff is all over the place now. I'd say some of it is every bit as good as Japanese made, even US made, depending on price. Potentially they can make stuff as good as anyone, remember only 3 countries have put men in space. They have some very impressive technology, aerospace and otherwise. The quality of their manufactured stuff is strictly dependent on how it's spec'd, not their ability to make it well. It's said now that for some cars built in both China and elsewhere, the Chinese built cars are actually superior, I think it may have been China-built Buicks that were the case in point, a sad state of affairs for Buick if so, who apparently will no longer make actual cars (sedans, wagons), only cuvs and suvs.

That looks like a great scope just to play with to analyze your favorite stereo amp using an audio generator or other selectable source. The portability of these instruments is getting better as well.
