That is a Motorola in a Heritage cabinet. It too was TOTL and was around $800.00 new.

These 3 ch jobs sound great, I had the exact same one in a standard 68"? long cabinet. This one is more compact, a plus, but not a fan of those black column things on the speakers and for that price they could at least clean up the faceplate.

That's a '62/'63 model, same model year as my SK112. The big three channel amp, like the one in this one, are rated at 51 watts total output, 110 watts peak. Motorola was getting every ounce of power that they could from the 6v6 tubes, and they sound amazing.

I did a little research and found it's actually called The Laureate, model SK56-2M. Instead of it being a Motorola Drexel, the cabinet maker Heritage made this one for Motorola. Heritage actually made five cabinets for Motorola and they were Motorola's most expensive units. The Laureate sold for $895.00 in 1963 money. There was one model that was more money. It was called the Cantonesian and sold for $995.00.

Motorola also had model years like cars did. 1963 Motorola models started in the fall of 62 and went through the summer of 63, that's why I usually reference them as a '62/'63 model or a '61/'62, etc... The only way to tell is looking at the date codes stamped on the chassises.

Greg, the ad shows it to be in Mesa. Do you have any idea where the location might be? There are all kinds of vintage electronics in the background and it mentions that is was serviced by Western audio? The only thing I could find was this:

I've heard of Western Audio. I don't know anything about them, good or bad. I know they service high end electronic equipment, both tube and solid state. I don't know where the Motorola is located. I can try to find out, if you'd like. I can't be too far from here.

I was just curious where it might be. The map in the ad shows north of the 60 and around the up sweep curve of the 202 actually in Apache Junction.

Part of that area was annexed by Mesa. The store I worked at on Signal Butte road was Mesa, although it was surrounded by Apache Junction on three sides. Apparently, AJ did not have the money for infrastructure, so Mesa barged in for the tax money. Where that stereo is located may be in the middle of AJ, but it may have a Mesa address.
