Re: Garrard Changer
Nice job, Bill! That stereo is the "top of the line" of their cheap stereos. That one is the one everybody wants. The antique guy should kill a fat hog with that one now that you have it all fixed up.

Re: Garrard Changer
That is a sweet looking unit...with the fold up speakers ... is it meant to be portable? ... looks heavy .
Re: Garrard Changer
Great work Bill!
Interestingly, the amp appears identical to mine that's from a absolute bottom of the line mini GE console I picked up off the curb last year, it even has that multi-cap sitting off to the side. It's just the opposite of mine where in this application it resides in the top of the line GE portable...that's a very nice unit!
Bill do you perchance have the schematic for the amp? There are several variations and I haven't found the exact one for mine that uses 2 x 6AQ5s for SE output.

I have a similar unit, but with built-in speakers, not remote. I'll see if I can find the schematic. I did some work on it and probably found one. Or maybe I just popped in new filter caps, can't remember.

Re: Garrard Changer
This GE can sit on a table, have legs, or be mounted on the wall. Greg said it is TOTL for GE''s lower end units. It's real wood, walnut, and has fancy trim. It actually sounds quite good too. I do have a schematic, but it's in paper forum and I have no way to scan it. I will take a photo and email it to you. I still have your email address so hopefully it will work.

Re: Garrard Changer
Bill, doesn't that amp have 7189 output tubes? If so, it's different than the amp with 6AQ5's. Those amps should both be in Beitmans, if I remember right. 1963 and 1964 versions of Beitmans.

Yes, it does have 7189's. I took some photos of the schematic and sent them to Roger. Whether right or wrong for him at least he will have a schematic in case some day he runs across one of these GE's.
