Getting ready for the onslaught of ghosts, goblins, and celebrities at my door. The problem this tear was estimating the amount of candy to buy. My street is torn up. The city is re-doing utilities while the pavement is gone. They got the new sidewalks in last week but have not filled the gullies where the forms were. The curbs & gutters are in but no paving. I put some posts out to mark the end of my sidewalk and filled a gap with a trimmed 2x4. I;ll add a couple solar garden lights for more guidance if the charger gets the NiCads up to charge.
I had to prune my front shrubs so the jack-o-lantern could be seen over them. It sits on a short ladder off to the side on the porch, way from the traffic, with an electric light.
I erred on the side of too much candy, by the way, We'll see what happens.

Re: Halloween
Since the wife got sick, we don't do Halloween. We would soap windows at Halloween when I was a kid. You don't hear of kids doing that anymore.....
I haven't failed. I've just found 10,000 ways that won't work.....Thomas Alva Edison

Re: Halloween
My fear of over-buying in the candy aisle were not justified. Even without a street in front of my house (maybe because of ?) I had a record year and just a small remnant of candy left. Lots of kiddos, with great costumes both bought and homemade. No kids broke their ankles in the gaps left after pouring the sidewalk on Wednesday.
But it was the year of indecision. I always buy lots of different kinds of candy and then offer the bowl and say "pick one." This year nobody could quite decide what to take. They'd grab one, and then toss it back and reconsider, or start off completely bewildered by choosing. It's a mystery.
