I have 2 of these that each had one side of the
separator knives and record support shelves collapsed.
I was curious about what would fix that.
Upon dis-assembly, I found that each adapter had been
broken inside the centerpost body assembly.
This appears to be due to someone forcing the adapter
onto the record spindle in the wrong mounting direction.
I'm disappointed, but now I can pass along that if you
have one of these adapters as described above,
there is no repair fix for it.
V-M 45 adapters are similar, but much more metal
used in their construction.

Re: RCA 45 RPM Record Adapters
When I was redoing the little RP-168 45 changer I heard on a Chris Cuff video that you wanted to be really careful with the slicers. Now, I see why. Would a parts adapter help any? I should have a couple junkers around here that don't work. How can I tell, without taking anything apart, whether the parts you need are good?

The part that is damaged is the centerpost body
as I wrote.
If both sets of knives and shelves are sticking out
from the 45 adapter, then most likely the
centerpost body is OK.
I did not know how to better describe the broken adapters
than that the knives and shelves on one side
had collapsed into their opening.
This photo from the V of Music shows the shelves in
proper position in a good adapter.

Re: RCA 45 RPM Record Adapters
Thanks, that gives me something to look for. I don't own an RCA changer that uses a 45 adapter, so I can't test one.

Re: RCA 45 RPM Record Adapters
A late 1950s RCA 45 adapter for the tall spindle will fit a 1950s VM 950 or 1200 series changer by giving the adapter a half a turn.
