YIPPEE!! Car show season starts with $5 gas

This Friday is the first cruise-in of the season in AJ that I like to attend. With gas prices like they are, it will cost $25 to put the key in the ignition of the Buick. Premium is close to $6 while Diesel is $6.29. My budget for Buick gas this winter will have to be $100 minimum per month. That, plus the cost of entering car shows, typically at least $50 around here, make the old car hobby a spendy one, at least this winter. Canadians who winter down here attend that cruise-in pretty heavily. I don't know how or if high gas prices will affect that any......

The weather was so warm in March last year for the BOP-C show, this year they are scheduling it on February 28. I don't know when the Florence show is, but with my luck, it will be on Saturday before the BOP-C on Sunday. It was like 112 at the BOP last year. I thought I was going to fry on my way home in a black car with no AC. I won't do that again this year.........

OK, I think I hate you!, yours is just starting and ours is just ending. The last car show for this area is October 10 and is part of the Pentwater Fall Fest. It is usually a large car show with lots of eye candy to drool over. I just hope it does not snow!

I haven't heard when Florence show is on this year. The weather is typically really nice for that show. Hint, hint.....

I'm sure the car shows and cruises are winding down here too. We went from being way too hot to go to a show to very cool in the matter of two days. We had been having weather in the mid to upper 90s for quite some time and then it cooled down to the higher 80s Monday. It didn't get out of the 60s Tuesday and Wednesday and today it barely got past 70. It wouldn't be too bad if we had a little sun to go along with the cooler temps.

Gas near me is running anywhere from $4.06 a gallon to $4.19 a gallon. Diesel is running $6.29 and up in my area.

Gas prices are really awful right now and they may go up some more. I did a search on gas prices in Ca. and the average price is over $6.00 a gallon. I really feel for the people who have to drive a long distance to get to work.

The diesel fuel prices are going to cause more inflation. It's amazing how much everything has gone up within the last five or six years.

I know an owner-operator who has an older Pete 359 that is paid for. He has parked his truck and is driving for Walmart while fuel costs are so high. He was leased to a local dairy. He says it isn't worth wearing out his truck while he loses money. He can go back to the dairy once things return to sanity, hopefully in the not-to-distant future......

I eat a certain brand of store-brand potato chips. On July 1, they cost $1.50. August 1, $1.70. September 1 $1.82. Almost 20% raise in 60 days. That is just one item. There is only the wife and I, but we spend $100 a week on groceries, yet complain about "nothing to eat".........

Tomorrow, I buy gas for my Mini. It's turbocharged, so I have to burn premium gas. $5.66 a gallon at the place across the road. $45 bucks to fill up a Mini Cooper with half a tank, 12-gallon capacity......

Gas here has dropped to $4.59 a gallon from $4.99 last Thursday. Around here we were told it had something to do with a refinery in Indiana. Not sure what the actual problem was. Also I heard because we are in a low crud crisis, our reserves are really depleted, the powers to be have been trying to control consumer demand by raising the prices so people won't drive so much. OK!
