Boliver Shadnasty...

Post: # 29741Post electra225 »

I believe this was a cartoon character of the 1950's or 1960's. I was digging thru upstairs in my shop when I came across a box that invited exploration. I found the little comment book we got our senior year of high school, that we had our schoolmates and teachers add comments to. One schoolmate, a boy, put a blurb on his page about Boliver Shadnasty. I do not remember this character at all, unusual for me. I don't know whether this was a comic book character or if it was an animated TV character. He was a "bad guy", apparently. The comment read: "Don't forget about our fun with Boliver Shadnasty, spelled with TWO nasties and his diabolical sidekick, J. Skulking Bushwhack". I have checked You Tube with no results, next up I reckon might be Mr. Google. I thought I'd post here to see if anyone had better memory than I do..... ;)

Mr. Bing came thru. Boliver ShaGnasty was a character created by Red Skelton. I don't get the connection to J. Skulking Bushwhack. I wonder if this was yet a different character Kenny referred to for some reason. We watched Red Skelton like everyone else did, but I'll be switched if I remember this character.

J. Skulking Bushwhack is a character created for the Captain Kangaroo TV show. He was a sidekick of Badlands Meeney, a character of a feature of the show. He apparently has no connection to Boliver Shagnasty. I haven't talked to this schoolmate who wrote the quote I cited, have no idea how to contact him. Might be interesting to have a "memory refresh" on his comment and perhaps reconnect after almost 60 years. Kenny was from January to September older than me, so he would have turned 76 in January. I have no idea if he is still among the living.
