How does one man end up with so many rare cars? Thanks for sharing, Walter.

Re: 2024 Motorama
GM sent them to Warhoop's junkyard to be destroyed. Instead, they squirrelled them away and Joe Bortz found out about them and bought them. Odd that GM didn't scrap them themselves.
There are a lot of other "mundane" show cars to survive like the 1956 cadillac Maharani Fleetwood with the kitchen sink in it and the automatic top 58 Eldorados. Some were used on the show circuit and given to high up executives after.
There are a couple missing Cadillac convertible sedans from 1960, 62 and 65 or 66 that were rumored to have been seen in the bowels of the former Clark Avenue plant... apparently they didn't think the expense was worth competing with lincoln for the convertible sedan market.

Re: 2024 Motorama
Wonder what happened to the "58 Buick Limited convertible they did for "Wells Fargo" and Cliff Robertson.....
There is a man in Scottsdale that made a running replica of the Wildcat II show car. I've never seen it with the hood open, but I'm told it has nailhead power, probably a 401.

I haven't failed. I've just found 10,000 ways that won't work.....Thomas Alva Edison

Pretty sure that car survived. Thought I read it was in a museum for awhile.

That's an interesting article. Odd that GM did not think their concept designs were worth saving. And that Bonneville Special, lookin' good, but it also reminds us of the form vs. function conundrum. Can you imagine the temps under that clear top if you left it parked out in the sun?
