1980 Panasonic SP-915 Changer

[Hi-Fi-Mogul]

A nice young couple wanted the wife's record changer
working again, so she could show her 20's age kids how
she enjoyed records.

At first, it looked like a BSR, but examining the cycling
mech and some tags under the changer base, it said:
Matsushita, Japan (Panasonic by any other name).
It is circa 1980.

It has a 12 Volt motor, and a similar, but different
cycling mechanism as a BSR.

Besides old grease in the mech, the original idler
wheel had decomposed and a LOT of rubber had
anealed onto the inside rim of the platter and the
stepped spindle of the motor.

After a good cleaning of all that mess, it works very
well. The tonearm drop is very nice and slow.

I have one almost identical to that. It was in my little Magnavox stereo when I got it. It was a good changer, although I was not wild about the cartridge.

An O-ring is currently working fine, so that the
customer can enjoy it until the idler arrives.
