Tonight's The Juke Joint played this great R&B flavored version of "Please Release Me" by Esther Phillips. It reminds us that country, blues,and R&B are not distantly related--they are cousins. Ray Charles (and many others) listened to the Grand Ole Opry, and everybody in the rock world listened to blue and R&B classics. But listen up to Esther here:
