The coffee grinder quit!
I drink Eight O'clock coffee that you can still buy in beans. I prefer fresh-ground coffee over the ready-ground kind. Forget about me drinking instant coffee. I was grinding merrily away yesterday, when the grinder just quit. I can't function without my morning coffee. I worked on a movie projector, so I reckon now I get to be a coffee grinder mechanic....

Re: The coffee grinder quit!
Fixed. If I had read the instruction manual BEFORE I used the grinder, I would have perhaps read the advice to clean the shoot where the grounds come out every time I used the device. And, I would also have read what happens when you don't empty the hopper of ground coffee often enough. And what would happen if I get in a hurry and don't read the instructions. After I finally did read the instructions, and followed those instructions, and cleaned the device as recommended, I was pleasantly surprised to find it works once again. Don't ask.......

I LOVE 8:00 coffee. I remember going to the A&P with aunt Camille and it was ground at the end if the checkout aisle.
Then I found out what old grinders were used for...

Grandpa bought Eight Oclock coffee beans in burlap sacks, at A&P. Ten pounds, as I recall. He would take them to Aunt Helen and she would grind them on an old grinder like the one Chris posted. He made cowboy coffee. A big blue porcelein coffee pot, ice cold well water. Throw a handful of coffee in the bottom along with a pinch of salt. Set it on the warmest spot on the wood cook stove and "let 'er go" until the milking was done. THE best coffee I ever drank.....

I had my third cup of coffee this year, this morning. I have a little box of those K cups that's a couple of years old and I opened two of them to charge my french press pot. There's just not enough good to it to do it more often.

Here at the cottage there's a Keurig machine that makes better coffee than I do. I started buying French roast pods for a bit more flavor--one box store brand, one Starbucks. The store brand tastes as good as the fancy stuff to my palate. At work, it's Folger's in a Mister Coffee device. Hardly gourmet, but it delivers caffeine to start my day.
