Bob Barker has passed away at 99
I saw this just now. I remember him on the Price is Right when I was a little kid. He and Art Linkletter ruled daytime TV back in the day.

Another icon. Remember the scandal the lovely models triggered?

Watched him on so many things, most memorable was the Price Is Right, my Grandma and I watched this on her Zenith Chromacolor just before lunchtime.

I used to see him in Truth Or Consequences When I was little. The only station that carried it (WTTV 4) was nearly over the horizon from our home in northern Indiana, so it was always fringe reception.

Rex, I saw a video on YouTube the other day. Channel 4 that used to be Sarkie's WTTV that we both knew and loved is now a CBS affiliate. How unfortunate is that?
Wonder what happened to WISH-TV "Channel 8, operating from the Riddick building"......That was the CBS affiliate back in the day, WFBM, Channel 6 was NBC and WLW-I, channel 13 was ABC. Channel 13 is now WTHR, and I thought it was the CBS affiliate.

Harry Martin was a personality on WFBM radio and TV back in the day. He had a program that came on WFBM-TV every morning thru the week at 6am. He was in a quartet called "The Old Fashioned Airs Quartet". They sang mostly gospel music, but broke off into the "classics" occasionally. Mr. Martin was a friend of grandpa's and spent some time at the home place, usually eating barbecued chicken, a specialty of grandpa's brother.

When all the "group W" stations owned by Westinghouse were sold to CBS in 1995, networks swapped in some larger cities. This probably happened in N. Indiana as well.electra225 wrote: ↑Wed Aug 30, 2023 1:56 am Rex, I saw a video on YouTube the other day. Channel 4 that used to be Sarkie's WTTV that we both knew and loved is now a CBS affiliate. Harrisburg's WHP-21 was always CBS, group W owned, so no change example. The change example is Baltimore's WJZ 13, group W owned, was ABC. WBAL-11 was NBC and WMAR-2 was CBS. In 1981, WMAR and WBAL traded networks, but that seemed to be an isolated case. In 1995, WMAR traded with WJZ, so that the Group W channel became the CBS station
