my name is Mark and I have been tasked with sprucing up the forums a bit by @electra225 . As you've noticed, things look a bit different now. The default ProSilver theme has been changed to "We Universal".
- This change is forced across all users to alert them that there are new theme options available
- In 10 days, you will be reverted back to "ProSilver", and you will be able to select the theme of your choice in your User Control Panel. Available themes will be:
-- ProSilver (the previous theme)
-- We Universal (this theme)
-- Pro Linux Lucid (burgundy theme)
@electra225 has also asked me to add the following to the forums, which have been successfully added and enabled, but not configured:
PayPal Donation - You will be able donate to support the continued upkeep and hosting of the forum at your discretion. Any and all donations are welcome. Thank you for supporting your beloved Classic HiFi Care forum. @electra225 will be setting this up in the coming days.
Downloads - a cumulation of downloadable files in one easily-accessible place. No more searching around for manuals, they'll all be in the same area (ultimately, once completed)
Board Announcements - This will put site-wide board announcements above all topics so making members aware of future changes will be easier and more informative
Pages - Classic Hifi Care will soon have additional "Pages" that are not forums, mostly for information purposes. Things like "About Us", "News", or maybe a blog!
Red Sticky Topic - This will allow topics pinned by admins and moderators to be given a red background to note their importance so they're not missed
Board Rules - adds a dedicated "Rules" page to a board
Header banner - The banner at the top of the forums will be changeable (it's not been changed yet)
I have taken the liberty of adding a few QOL (Quality Of Life) changes to the forum:
Simple Mention - You can now "mention" a user in a post, using @username . This will "tag" the user in the post and send them a notification, bringing their attention to a post, as well as bringing attention to their username within the post.
Two-Factor Authentication - You can now optionally secure your account using Two-Factor Authentication. I highly recommend doing this, but be aware if you misplace your 2FA device, you will need to send an EMAIL to @electra225 to regain access to your account.
Site-wide SSL - I have enabled site-wide SSL. This means visiting the forums will no longer generate a warning about "the webpage your visiting is insecure". This will also improve compatibility across all browsers on all devices, including MS Edge, Mozilla FireFox, Google Chrome, Opera Browser, Brave Browser, Safari, etc. This will also improve the search engine result rankings, so maybe you'll get even more members!
Cookie Notification - I have enabled the "This website uses Cookies" notification for all members. This is to remain GDPR compliant and within the laws of the USA when users from states like California register for our forums.
