ordered 3 tubes from tube depot .... 2 -6BQ7A, and a 12XA7for the motorola ... the 12XA7 is brand new ... the others are used which I expected , but i expected them to at least pass conductance ... my jackson 648 one off branded tube read around 30-35.... the GE branded tube is a dud no filament... I contacted them and they said they will have a rep call me ... obviously they don't test tubes before they ship them anymore ...never had issues before with these guys ...but I think it was under different ownership then .... now on hold for how ever long to get replacements ....

I sold most of my tubes at auction last fall. I kept the audio and radio tubes. If I don't have what I need, I go to AES. They are high, but I have some control over what I get. Good luck..

Speaking of tubes and dual triodes used for VHF-FM tuners, the 6BK7-6BQ7 is a very common TV tube that seems to work quite well in place of 6JK8 used in 63-64 Zenith tuners. It is also a fine tube in place of almost any FM tube with the same pinout. Motorola tuners used only the 6BQ7 also.

I have many many tubes of all ages, about 50% are NOS. Of course when I take some excess NOS-boxed to the swap meet 2x a year, some always sell no matter how many I have. For instance, there are about 500 6AF4s, they were popular in TVs used in UHF towns like our area. I bought Harrisburg Radio's remaining stock of 8000+ NOS 7 years ago and have been pulling some real oddballs out, used in car radios and off-brand TVs that may have been taken out of service before the stock was used up.

I have gotten JJTesla and Sovtek EL84s from AES, but shipping makes them more expensive to East Coast customers. AES does have a good selection and have for many years now. If I actually need tubes, shipping from Moyers Electronics in Sunbury is cheap, if I cant get there in person.

AES is local to me. This makes their service not more expensive than some of the others with lower prices, but you get charged shipping. I like JJ's for my Magnavox amps.
