Hey Greg,
I just finished up another 1960's BSR changer, a UA25 that
goes into a surprisingly nice DelMonico little console.

After I drop it back in their console Saturday, I'll report how
it sounds.

I was wondering the same thing...

Finally got rid of my contractor so I'm fixing things the way they should have been... just finished spackling and painting the kitchen ceiling yesterday and installed crown molding today.

Don't you just hate to spend money paying someone to do a job, then have to finish the job yourself? I hope you get it sorted to your satisfaction.

Well, I finally got around to taking down my Christmas lights from my shrubs. I have 5 reels to wind them up on and they are full when it is cold out. It was 70 out and they wound up on 2 reels. I cleaned out the dead morning glories from my mailbox pot, shook out the seeds and swept them up and forked them into the pot for this spring. Finally I bid and won a old electric clock with an hour strike. A Telechron 6B11. It'll need a bit of work.

I'm right at the place I'm at where/whenever that may be.

Was in Yuma today, then atop Cunningham Peak (Quartzite) in gale force winds to assess a potential broadcast site, then back in studios in Yuma to commission an internet link system for an upcoming NPR program feed from there to Boston, then back home to outside Maricopa.

Just another day for me.

Running around gathering electric heaters. My heating boiler stopped working, the night of our monthly storm of the century. The on-call boiler guy said late-night fix would run around $1,000 or more at off-hours rates. I decided to wait for daylight. Think I have a diagnosis. A Honeywell "Aquastat Relay" that look like it senses water temp and turns the circulating pump on & off sits under a valve that started dripping on it, and there was water in the relay box. Whatever is wrong, it blew a 15 amp slow-blow fuse that I discovered after Ace had closed (of course).

Boiler guy is here and I am missing work. The Aquastat was toast. The leak was likely from a declining pressure tank--a steel tank with a bladder to regulate water pressure in the system. So I get a new Aquastat,, a new pressure tank, a new air discharge device, and a new credit card bill. But I also get heat. 3 electric heaters and the electric floor in the bathroom kept the temps up fairly well in the interim, with outside temps down to around 20 overnight.

Sorry to hear this, Chris. I went thru a similar repairs with my boiler about 3 years ago. I needed one new pump, a new zone controller, some plumbing changed around, a flush, and because the zone controller was not compatible, I also needed 4 new thermostats. The new zone controller was the same brand as the old one but with technology changes my original thermostats would not work. It ended up costing me $2800.00 before I was done but well worth it as I love my in floor radiant heat. :( I wish you lots of luck and heat when it's all done.

Out of the country then a couple days in Florida, but now home - just in time for 25 and snow... sheesh.

Chris there's always the penny or aluminium foil trick for fuse repair if desperate! Been there done that...but only very briefly.

My house is one zone! Small house = not enough room for electronics!

Meanwhile, the house is cozier than usual because when he had me turn the thermostat back up, it ended up being higher than my usual 66 degrees. I figure after an evening being cold, I deserve some warmth for a while.

The boiler is probably 29 years old, installed just before I bought the house. I've had to replace the exhaust flue fan once (my fault; didn't oil it regularly) and a vacuum sensor previously. Not bad for a device that runs all winter. I also had to replace the original plastic flue pipe, because they no longer met code. Mine was still intact but others apparently failed, so now it's stainless. Frankly, I thought it was cool having a plastic flue.

I'm here, just need to post more.

I've been working on our ham radio flea market which we refer to as "Thawfest" I got the idea for one in Richmond which was always called "Frostfest" and was always the first Saturday in February. I went by the wayside due to COVID-19 :(

Here is a link to our webpage;https://gcvarc.net/thawfest/

We might have a friend of mine purchase a vendor table and have several tube radios for sale. Ham radio flea markets usually have many AA5 radios for sale.

I was shocked with a problem on the '91 brougham. From time to time the radio acts up. Turn it on and it works. Shut it off an the antenna won't retract or it'll keep playing. This time, it did nothing. No antenna, clock, station selection or sound. It's happened before but I could usually " reboot" it by unplugging the dash unit.

This system has a Delco (not Bose) amp buried in the dash. I had the entire system rebuilt 15 years ago. I pulled the amp and jiggled the wires and it works. Now I have to reinstall it and pray it keeps working.

The dash unit is just a control head. All functions like clock, stations and power are sent from the box in the dash. You can unplug the dash unit and it'll still play because the amp still sends the signal.

I must say it is the most beautiful radio, cd and cassette unit I've ever heard. I have live recorded tapes where I can hear musicians turning pages of scores. The same amp was used up to I think 94.

This system was a 2k upgrade to the standard cassette radio and came with front door 2-way speakers. The dash mounted speakers were disconnected.

The sound is AMAZING so I'm glad I got it working because there's nobody left who knows this system.

The wife's Tahoe got to doing that here awhile back. I found the plug that connects into the back of the module (I guess that's what you call it) that controls the instruments and accessories was not totally plugged in. The gauges would go dead, the dinger would start dinging and the radio would go off, the dome lights all came on, like you were getting out of the car. This module thingy is on its own fuse. Your car might have something like that.

Hey Chris, don't you love it ? "Storm of the century", now "bomb cyclones"... don't you love it ? For most of us it's called seasonal "weather", the rest just need another excuse to cry.
Until our snow Ive been out "walking(sailing) on water" !
Without Winter I wouldn't satisfy hobbies that wait while enjoying summer. All goes to say, I don't wish to be in Florida watching the Tide go in and out, pretending I'm happy and busy 🙄
