I would be thrilled to share pictures. Both the Stereo Theater and the computer with the pics are in storage. When I get them home, I will share pictures.

At the end of my general-purpose shop workbench is a Black & Decker 1950s 1/4" electric drill motor that belonged to an old family friend, who also sold me his drill press, radial-arm saw, and scroll saw. My brother later gave me the same man's wood lathe. I think of him every time I grab that little drill or any one of his other tools.Hi-Fi-Mogul wrote: ↑Fri Aug 13, 2021 3:40 am
I use a 1950's little manual drill all the time that I found
in some gentleman's workshop.

I know we like photos. Here's a couple of the 9-ES-6J.

Three tubes and two speakers, it should sound pretty good? I have always like the looks of RCA changers.

Is that RCA changer VM-related? I see that little record-size sensing device next to the turntable. And the over-arm looks VM-like.

Bill,
Someone hacked the original speakers and put in
a 6x9 Utah with a whizzer cone.
I was concerned at first, but when it all went back
into the cabinet it sounds really good.
Even with 0.5 V Pfanstiehl P-226 cartridge,
I can't turn the volume up full.
Chris,
RCA used V-M changers up until I believe around
1954.
I could not find a source, but I distinctly remember
a discussion on ARF about a patent suit that V-M
brought vs RCA.
Until 1960?, RCA kept the 4 speed turret and idler
set up that was in the early V-M 900 series changers.
And yes, the record support arm placement on the
changer base is how the V-M 900s had theirs.

A couple of weeks ago I found that same exact unit in an antique store. I pretty much tripped over it as it was sitting on the floor in the walk way. And, yes, it did follow me home.

Bill,
I'll be waiting to hear about the restoration of
your RCA twin sister.
Regarding the dual speakers:
I've had several brands of these record players
with 2 x 5 " speakers or similar.
For some acoustic reasons unknown to me,
they performed exceptionally well.
Especially the bass end. Not what would
be expected, but there it is.
My belief is that even lower end products were
actually constructed with at least a minimum
of acoustic engineering behind them.
Maybe due to market competition of the day,
and a desire to have a decent sound.
Columbia kind of started the movement
in 1953, with their "360 Sound" side-firing
dual speaker tabletop hi-fi's.

Actually, I found the model you shared in the link. It's a VM model 972. Three tubes, and an oval speaker. It needs total everything, and for now it's just sitting on a shelf looking pretty. Here's a photo from Gary's site, which is probably where your came from.

Let me know when you start restoration, and
I'll send you the changer and amp service files.

Yup, that's it. I like the power rating, 1.5 watts of undistorted power. Thank you for the offer, I will take you up on it when I get that far.
