A Nice Surprise

About an hour before time to get ready for work, my sister called. She and my youngest niece made chicken and noodles and mashed potatoes for me to take to work. I haven't had any of those since the Gipper was in office.That made a good supper. Now I'm desperately trying to stay awake.

You had to make a memory for me, Rex. My Grandmother made the best chicken and noodles. Her noodles were scratch made on her old cutting board. I remember watching her make them. Floor, egg, and I can't remember the rest. I remember watching her roll them out and letting them dry before they got cooked in the chicken broth. Now my mouth is watering and wishing she was here to make them for me.

Wow. What did you do to deserve such fine eats? Think hard, you want to do it again....

Grandma made "those hand squoze" dumplings. She just kind of choked off some dough and put it in boiling chicken broth. Haven't had any of those since she passed. There was something special about a grandma.....

I think it's because I'm taking my sister to vote Saturday. She hadn't cared too much about it for most of her life, but wants to participate now.
