Re: Tube tester

ok looked up the unit here is what he said.... "The important solid state rectifier modification was done making the tester much more consistent and eliminating the need for that big #83 rectifier tube that keeps the unit hot all the time."

Re: CG left channel out

Been thinking about this repair for a while and I realized that I could just put a wire through there is there any reason a stranded wire cannot replace a solid wire ? https://www.flickr.com/photos/152106896@N03/54255811940/in/datetaken/ https://www.flickr.com/photos/152106896@N03/54255614988/in/dat...

Re: 59 magnavox Imperial Concord CA FBM $200

Hi Mogul, I know bad math. Stereo seems like two but in this case three. Its because of the selector switch in the imperials and concert grands . in this case it would be switch position B.

Re: 59 magnavox Imperial Concord CA FBM $200

Hi William , Here is Seans console just like the one advertised. They put the AMP 182 (30 watts) off to one side, but wouldn't the wiring been cleaner if it was on the other side?

Re: 59 CG in ebony Arizona

It looks to me to be a original Ebony unit because the rear and inside are black from when they built it. It has the remote chassis, So it's a 59 or 60? it still has the magic eye. My ebony continental looked dull like that until I cleaned it really well and polished it. The top glass is gone which ...

Re: Soldering 2 wires together !!!!

Hello guys. so in my defense its been forever since I soldered something, Here were the issues. I ended up taking a file to the tip and then I went and got the rest of the supplies and put the tip in the flux while it was hot and then put a nice smooth coating of solder onto the tip. I guess it's ca...

Soldering 2 wires together !!!!

Hello Guys, Today I broke out my grandfathers soldering iron ( big Weller gun with he 2 prong tip) and was installing a power cord onto the power supply of the CG. I had to solder two wires end to end. First I tinned both wires. then I tried to hold them together and with the iron and solder togethe...

Re: Building a completely new system

Hello, yes that's exactly what I am saying. An example was when the the eye tube in the old chassis of the ebony continental was fluctuating you guys immediately nailed it as a B+ issue and it was determined to fix it before damage was done. That was a newly recapped amp and 5401 preamp ! I think I ...

Building a completely new system

Hello guys, I have sent my stuff out to several different people to be worked on, And I have realized that each one has fixed them just enough to get working. They dont stay working long ! That got me to thinking about just replacing every component in the amp. I mean literally making lists of each ...
