It's good to see you on the forum, Rex. And, your driving already, but, I guess if you can go sliding one handed you can drive.

I went in for my first post op exam yesterday and everything is going well. Now they say I will be out of work til Jan 25. That will upset my finances pretty well. At least I will be out of this portable torture unit the end of next week.

I started PT last Wednesday and got a load of isometric exercises to do at home. They really have me hurting at bedtime. The doctor had given me opioid meds for the pain. They might as well be milk of magnesia tablets. I want to sleep in the bed badly but too many times I start to ache and pain and the only thing I can do is dress, go back to the recliner and try to sleep there. I ain't getting much sleep.

I feel so sorry for you, Rex. My neighbor had her shoulder done a couple of years ago. She pretty much told me what you are telling me, this is no picnic. The good news, it does get better, and soon it will be behind you. Hang in there!

Not only do opioids not work, they are extremely addictive. You need more and more for them to be effective, then it's too late. I'll keep a good thought for your recovery, Rex. Hang in there !

Do the PT. Better to hurt some now and regain function than to be impaired long-term.

I'm doing the PT. It's tough losing all this sleep. One bright note, I won $100 in the lottery today.

I finally had a breakthrough in PT last Wednesday. I have had a painful catch in my upper arm when moving my arm as you would to pass a plate to another at the table. I worked through it in that exercise, then if decreased in pain. I can also easily sleep in bed now. We had a 12 hour power outage here yeaterday. I camped out at my sister's awhile. It's getting chilly here, in the 30's and daytime 40's.

Thanks Rex, it's good to know you are finally feeling better with less pain. I have friends traveling to their place in Florida. They stopped to visit old friends in Tennessee and are now waiting for the weather to let up so they can continue their journey. You guys in the sunny south are worse off then we are in the dark, gloomy, cold north. Continue to improve and I hope you are back to pain free soon.

I'm glad to hear you are feeling better. Are you getting any of the bad weather at your place?

We were right on the edge of it. The winds were the worst part, taking the power out.

The therapist says I am doing great. I see the surgeon tomorrow for the major exam and my therapist asked me to pass along her compliments on the quality of my surgery. There are still a few muscle pains and general aches and pains from the exercise. It woke me again last night and I put diclofenac cream on my forearm up to my shoulder and slept the rest of the night.

Good news! Being able to go back to work will be good therapy in itself.
