Hello All, Last year when in portland. I picked up a 1961 Imperial in rough shape but still complete. Got it home and it went into the garage as it seemed to need a lot and i wasn't going to get to it in a while. Fast fwd 6 months to last May just north of Seattle in Edmonds there was a magnavox cabinet on offerup. It seemed like a similar unit. picked it up and got it home was surprised at just how similar it looked to the first one but in way better shape. Almost pristine i would say except for a part removed so they could use it as storage compartment ? The owners said they got it as a empty cabinet and had it for thirty years! So i got both out for comparison. Turns out virtually identical . And the serial numbers were less than 40 numbers from each other! These two guys will of course be combined to make one . Couple things to note the plug between the amp and tuner were hardwired together and while i was putting it into the box i broke the dial glass so another thing i need to get and fix.

Nice score! You certainly have enough parts to make a good one from two. There is another member of this forum who has one just like that, same model number. Good luck!.....

That member, and I'm sure there are others, would be me. I will share my journey with my Imperial one of these days. I guess I should really say my continued journey, as I need the changer power switch that mounts on the back of the function switch to finally finish my Imperial.

French Provincial seemed like the cabinet of choice during that era but there were other cabinets available. I know throughout the years of the Imperial they had a Classic Provincial, French Provincial, Classic Contemporary, and probably others I do not know about. Maybe someone else here on the forum will chime in with other cabinet/models?
