Banger racing....

I wish we had this activity in our country. This stuff makes our demolition derbies look like valet parking. These guys have guts, you gotta give them that. Their mental stability might be questionable.... ;)

What's the goal, anyway? Suicide? Looks like it would get old after about 10 minutes.

It's addictive. I used to participate in demolition derbies before it got complicated and high-tech. We just took out the glass and ran it. No hotrod engines or headers, anything like that. I had a girl who worked for me named Lynn Spencer who was THE best demolition derby driver I ever saw. Dressed head to toe in white leather and never got a spot on her. She was a specialist in wheel hits. If you hit the right rear wheel of a car, it would always kil it. If it didn't completely knock the rear end out, it would dislodge the driveshaft. We had a Checker cab with the doors filled with spray foam. Cars would literally bounce off it. Powered by a 428 Pontiac that would run red hot if you needed it to. We ran a 45-gallon water tank and it took 45 minutes to get it boiling. The guys in England do basically the same thing, only they run on a paved track with that killer wall to push somebody into. I can watch these guys for hours......

The way my wife drives I bet she'd be good at that. Might even win.

95% of the Volvo wagons ever built have been destroyed in banger racing. We value Rolls Royce cars over here as a big deal, over there they are just old junk cars. Most of those banger cars are powered by six cylinder Jaguar engines. We can't keep one running over here, but in Merry old England, they are like Chevy 350's to us, you can't kill one.
