I wouldn't call it a steal, but it doesn't look like a bad price for an Italian Provincial that appears to be in good condition and odds are that it could be bought for less. The higher end consoles like this are getting harder to find all the time.

That is THE prettiest cabinet Magnavox ever built, to my way of seeing things. Mine is a 1960 in mahogany. That one looks like walnut, but it is very nice. It is also a 1961, witnessed by the tuning meter. It might also have FM-AFC which is a huge plus. The price is cheaper than what I paid for mine. Of course, mine was sold to me as a Concert Grand......

I agree with the assessment of the looks--it's a very handsome device and in excellent physical condition. And as we know, the electronics in these items are modular: parts can be replaced. They're almost infinitely repairable as long as the transformers haven't burned up.

It does resemble a Concert Grand so I can see how mistaking it for one could happen.

It would have been nice to have a version of this cabinet made for a Concert Grand. It would take heavy modification to make that happen and get all the CG guts in the Imperial cabinet.
