I find nothing showing as new today. Is that a glitch or has nobody posted anything?

All my 45s that were flooded back in 1993 are now back in the paper sleeves that my Mom dried out after the big flood. Now I have o find a place to stash them. And the Edison cylinders. And the shellac 78s. The LPs still have some room on the shelves.

Chris, it was a very quiet day on the forum. Work, fall chores, appointments, travel, could be some of the reasons. I know, I'm trying to get things done before the snow comes. The biggest thing for me is keeping up with leaves, and I have 3 yards to do all having large trees in them.

It's too bad you do not have the room to build an extra garage or pole barn on your TC property. I think it was suggested on the "other" forum that you could go up on your garage in TC. That would make a great place to store things and open up your garage for your vehicles? Just a thought, and probably way cheaper than trying to find a new home in todays housing market.

I've been busy as a one armed paper hanger of late. I've been looking into the necessaries of retirement. My time will be 66 years and 4 months. That will be in January of 2023. I'm also getting ready for my surgery and absence from work. I also had a roof put on yesterday. So there.

I sure wish you well with your retirement. I counted the days until I could retire. I hated retirement. I was bored. My hobbies weren't hobbies anymore. I went back to work part time. I also wish you well with your shoulder surgery. Please keep us informed when you are getting it done.

All you guys who are retired or dreaming of it.... I'm still hauling my butt off to work every day, with no real plans to stop. Maybe I'd start feeling old if I stopped working. Plus it makes me feel useful. I didn't start drawing Social Security until I was old enough to max it out and earn as much as I wanted without getting dinged for it. Better still, I get annual SS increases as my work income increases. It's based on a rolling of your highest-pay years. The result of all this unexpected wealth is that I've ordered up a new top for the Chevy. Seems a shame to have a top so fragile that I can't run it up and down whenever the weather is right. 60 years is a pretty good run for a vinyl top, no?

My philosophy is that I work to live, not live to work. Having retired at 58 I think that the secret of retirement is not retiring FROM something, but retiring TO something. In my case it's been building and finishing a second home, constantly improving the other one, restoring cars, boats, motorcycles, and electronics, enjoying the outdoors walking, fishing, boating, and most of all spending time with and enjoying children and grandchildren. I have so many projects and things to do that I'm busier than ever, plus traveling to Vermont 8-10 times a year, and now Denver 3 or 4 times a year to visit family, where I'm immediately put to work doing home improvements or assembling and fixing things, is a new and additional diversion..

I never have a shortage of things to do, and the huge plus is that they're now the things that "I" want to do. None of us has infinite time to do them. That kind of retirement has been highly rewarding, it's the folks without hobbies and projects that are the ones that wither away... not exactly a problem in my case.

Very true , you have to keep busy, I still work part time moving cars and trucks for the local dealership here, but other wise we travel , and upgrades to the house before we put it on the market ... and the electronics ...

What! You are moving, and selling off the electronics???

Been trying to sell off all my antique radios for a while now ... even sent pictures to Mark Oppat to see if any interest by any members @ MARC... apparently not... the house is just too big for just the two of us... we are looking to downsize ...

Last weekend, I finished that Garrard A for my friend. It's the 4th Garrard I've done (the 88 in the Fisher console, an A for myself, an A 2 and this one). Well, this one is PERFECT. Smooth. Rumble free. Speed spot on. The Shure m3 cartridge tracking at 2.5ish g and tripping a stack of 4 lps. I'm using it and redoing my A 2 now.

The guidematic for the cadillac is lost in transit. Not really but it was supposed to be here Thursday. It's sitting in scranton for 2 days. I want that installed before snow hits.

Elton, I understand downsizing. I kind of did that when I moved from the Grand Rapids area back to my home town of Hart. The house in Hart is slightly smaller, but far less property to take care of and that makes a huge difference.

Walfrd, that is good news with your success on the Garrard's. I have one I need to work on and it will be my first. Wish me luck! I hope your part shows up.
