My high school garage band (we always say "my" band, ha ha !)
played Badfinger's song "No Matter What" at our first paid gig
of a high school formal dance.

Joey Molland, the last Badfinger survivor, passed away on March 01, 2025.

The band's history is bitter-sweet, but here is a live British Granada
Color TV show featuring Badfinger.

I remember the excitement and joy of playing music,
at our young age, when we felt we could
accomplish anything.

I see that in these boys' eyes, too. Joy.

Hi Bill,

I played bass guitar on a Monkey Wards sunburst finish
Japanese-made Hofner-style Paul McCartney Beatle bass.

I believe my loving parents had to shell out $70
in the early 1970's when I was a sophomore in H.S.

Then, after a few years of digging ditches and stuff
in those Summers, I bought a black-face 1960's
Fender Bassman head.
I found several speaker cabs for my rig.
Total of 4 x 15 inchers when we played the formal dance.

I still have all that gear, though its getting too heavy
for me to even think about. [ : )

Wow, when I was 16 y.o. et cetera, I used to haul that
stuff by myself !

I picked up a bit of electric guitar also during high-school,
because I wanted our band to play a set of 1950's RnR.

The guys said: "OK, you get the chordings for the
songs and we'll do a set".

I spent many hours listening to songs on 16 RPM
and making my fingers toughened on an old
Sears 1448 half-broken guitar someone loaned me.

Halcyon days of youth and promise....

Thanks, Mr. Mogul. It is good to take the trip down memory lane once in a while.
