Classic Hifi Care

I have a Standard radio, 7 transistors that is about two inches square in size. The speaker is about an inch in diameter. I have had this little radio for probably 40 years, but I don't remember where I got it, which is rare for me. This little set is made in Japan, I'm guessing in the mid-1960's. It has spent its time with me in a box in a drawer, that was misplaced when we moved. I found it the other day when I was hunting for something else. It takes two #640 batteries, that, according to Mr. Google, are still available at various prices from $4.50 up to almost $50. If I can find batteries for a reasonable price, I'd like to see if this set will work. I'll take some pictures and get those posted.

I bet you could rig up some 1.5 volt regular batteries
to just do a test.

What's the voltage?

It takes two 1 1/2 volt "button" cells, #640, I'm assuming they are connected in series for a total of 3 volts.
