SW broadcasting

Post: # 23393Post TC Chris »

My sister is visiting her son and his family in Redwood City, CA. She passed this building on the trail and looked it up. I'm assuming it was SW band broadcasting if it was to reach troops in the Pacific theater.

I wonder
if my step-dad listened to that station. He was stationed at Pearl Harbor when the Japanese bombed it and spent the whole war in the south pacific. Thanks for sharing, Chris.

Thanks for finding and sending that. I've forwarded it to my sister, who is still visiting out there.

Bill,

My Dad survived Pearl, also, and then was stationed
at those blindingly bright, hot coral atolls around the Pacific.

If he was alive, I'd ask him if they received KGEI broadcasts
back then.

Very interesting history that still remains in Redwood City.

Mr. Mogul. I would ask my stepdad the same question if he were still alive. He was sent home after the war and told by the doctors at the Navy hospital in California that he had about 3 years to live. He fooled them he died at 91 in 2012.
