Restore-a-Finish

A lot of people swear by this stuff ... but to me it is just overpriced stain ... Am I using it wrong? the directions say put it on let it sit for a few minutes and wipe it off ?...I can pour minwax walnut stain on and wipe it off and it looks no different... and old English is nothing but dark stain, but they do make a lighter color now ....anyone have any luck using restore?

Restore-a-Finish is deigned to melt the old finish so it can fill in the scratches.

Restore-a-Finish will not work on modern poly finishes.

Works well on lacquer and shellac finishes. I just treated the doors on the 62 cadillac with it. There was a little lacquer whitening that it got rid of.

I used Restore A Finish on the Stereo Theater when I first got it. The finish on it was so bad, all that was going to help it was to refinish the cabinet. I have good luck with Old English. I figure if a cabinet needs much more than Old English, it probably should be refinished.
