General Electric is now an "orphan" brand

Post: # 20839Post electra225 »

The once-mighty General Electric is no more. They have gone the way of their "kissin' cousin" RCA. Their demise is much like the demise of RCA, corporate mismanagement and "taking their eyes off the ball".

GE's consumer electronics division has been gone since 1987 when they sold it to Thompson in France. GE has been going downhill ever since Jack Welch ripped the soul out of it.

So sad, and probably with the right management it should have never happened. :(

It looks like most companies will grow, until they collapse upon themselves. Once the failure begins, there's no stopping it.

Another large company I believe to be skating on thin ice is Walmart. They are so worried about being Amazon, being like Amazon, outdoing Amazon. They will wake up, probably when it's too late, then realize not only are they not like Amazon, they have forgotten how to be Walmart. Sam Walton admonished the company to keep their eyes on the ball and let others do their thing. International Harvester was a company thought to be too big to fail. They were the king of the hill in the ag machinery business, but got worried about being John Deere. We know how that turned out. RCA bought Banquet Foods and lost their way.
