Another great loss to our musical history.

The local PBS station just had an entire show of he and Eydie. His son hosted. What fantastic talents they both were. And, next week, there's a concert at Carnegie Hall of their music starring David Lawrence.

100 years ago, shortly after I moved to GR, they came to GR. I knew my mom, who loved music, would really enjoy seeing them so I asked her if she wanted to go. Of course, was her response so I got the tickets, she drove down the day of the show, we went, and their show was fantastic, mom spent the night and then went shopping the next day and then drove home in the afternoon. She talked about that show often and how much she enjoyed it. Later on, probably a few years later, Lena Horne came to GR, and I took mom to that show too.

Miserable day here today so I pulled out some of their albums. WOW... Eydie had an operatic range and Steve's styling was as smooth as scotch and soda... more glib and easy like Torme than calculated like Sinatra. Of course, he also didn't have to carry the mantle of Sinatra.

Sad to hear. I see he was also a composer as well. I hadn't seen it as the news takes a holiday on my weekends.
