I Think I've Found The Truck

After 3 trucks were sold out from under me and turning away from a couple of others, I think I may buy this one tomorrow. I went to look at it this AM and the guy went into great detail in pointing out all the vehicles' pluses and minuses. It seems a pretty well kept vehicle for it's age. It runs well and shifts smoothly.

The Ranger is to replace the F150. It's just too thirsty for me. It's 20 miles to and from work. If I drive it on the interstate, it uses nearly a quarter tank of gas per trip.

I've just bought the shop manual for this truck and every Ford Lincoln and mercury from 1996 to 2014 on a thumb drive for $ 17.

Who sold the thumb drive? I used to buy "shop manuals" for all my vehicles but the Mustang took 4 printed volumes (pre-internet) and after that I gave up.

Congratulations on the truck. What size tank is in the other one? 1/4 tank to get to work...

As for shop manuals... I gotta have a printed version. I've got page markers and greasy fingerprints all over the ones for the cadillacs. I won't touch the daily driver 2010 buick. That manual is probably 6 inches thick.

There are several dealers on Ebay. The one I bought from only sells drives of this vintage. If you go to Ebay Motors and set up a "garage" which is a saved search criteria of your vehicles you can search with that using the keywords "service manuals" and you will see the expensive print manuals and the much less expensive CD-ROM and thumb drive manuals. They are a good investment.

Are you going to keep your F-150? That era is probably a high water mark for Ford trucks. They rode like a car and were almost indestructible, electronics notwithstanding. I know you have always liked that truck.

I doubt it. I wanted a smaller, more thrifty truck.
